So for my first "What Are You Reading Wednesday" post I wanted to talk about a recommendation that I got from the Bad Boys Book Obsession newsletter. It's called The Baby Contract and it's by Riley Rollins. I'm about 25 chapters in and it's surprisingly addictive. So this is just my opinion so far. I'll update again once I've finished.
Summary(Some Spoilers): Jack is the wealthy CEO of his family's company and has everything he could ever want, except for a child that is. Jason and his previous wife struggled and failed to conceive for years, which ultimately led to the end of their marriage. Now, a year later he still wants to have a child, but has given up on marriage/relationships as the way to make that dream come true and his willing to pay (handsomely) for it. That's where Libby comes in. She's a friend of his sister and a sculptor who wants to pursue her art career more serious and also wants to experience being pregnant (for some reason). With the help of Jack's sister the two come together and agree on this unconventional plan to make a baby. However, the second they lock eyes on each other they feel an intense attraction. For the sake of their arrangement they try to ignore their attraction to each other, but as the put on a show for Jack's family of being a couple their attraction only get stronger and eventually it leads to them being unable to keep their hands to themselves. Thoughts: So far I am really enjoying this book. It's a steamy page turner and I'm always looking forward to the what's going to happen next.

Pretty When You Cry by Skye Warren – Strippers, and Cults, and Spankings…Oh My I’ve been planning to launch this blog for a while now, but wasn’t sure what book I should writer about first. Something new? Something I’ve read (and possibly reread)before? Something “trending” so that it was relatable to my readers? I just wasn’t sure, but last week I came across a post on Facebook about Skye Warren’s Pretty When You Cry and knew almost instantly that that was the book I wanted to write about.
Now, I have to confess when it comes to romance and erotica I am a definitely a sucker for a bad boy, and award extra points if he’s also a dominant, so those things definitely played a big factors into me clicking on the “buy now” button. Review– Pretty When You Cry was as promised a “dark romance” it was also sexy and raw. No romantic walks on the beach or snuggling on the couch “Pretty When You Cry” was bare bottom spankings and rough poundings. Despite usually loving the bad boys I don’t generally like when they’re cold or mostly emotionally distant from the heroine and there was some of that gong on in this story, however it wasn’t enough to put me off of finishing it, and I was still able to root for them to be together in the end. Welcome To My BookshelfMy name is Neena O’Neal and I am the author of I’m With The Band, a steamy modern-day, rock ‘n’ roll romance that explores the complicated dynamics of love, friendship, and learning to live with vulnerabilities on and off the road.
Once I heard that to be a good writer you had to be a good reader and I couldn’t agree more with that statement. I love reading almost as much as I love writing and I love talking about both just as much too, and that’s why I started this blog. I want to share what I’m reading with others while also supporting writers by giving my honest opinion on their work. |
AuthorI first fell in love with writing when I was a little girl. From first grade on I dabbled in everything from poetry, to short stories, you even attempting to write a screenplay for mafia based soap opera. Continue... Follow Author
